To freeze the gum out of your carpet grab a few ice cubes from the freezer and place them in a zip loc bag. Place the ice bag directly on the gum in your carpet and wait 5 10 minutes. After this time the gum should be frozen enough and you can start breaking it out. You hold a big cube of ice on the gum for a few minutes then the gum will break and you can pick it off the carpet.

Close and seal it tight to avoid leaking water as the ice melts. Sponge the gum stain directly with cleaning fluid such as 409. Use the side of a fork to lightly scrape the carpet back and forth. Do this until the fibers become springy and start standing upright.

You can use a fingernail brush to help scrape the loosened gum from the carpet. Put the bag of ice directly onto the gum stain. Gently lift the gum up off of the carpet fibers with a scraping motion. For the total removal of a dried gum from the carpet use a knife or ordinary spoon.

Hit the frozen gum with the back of a metal kitchen utensil breaking it into pieces. Vacuum your carpet before you apply the powder. This will harden the gum so it s easier to remove gum from carpet. Step 4 using a metal spatula or butter knife slowly start to scrape the gum off the carpet.

Use a butter knife or metal spatula to scrape the frozen gum off the carpet. Step 3 soak the gum with oil by blotting it with the cloth. Use a scraping tool to fully scrape the gum from the carpet. Direct the wd 40 toward the gum itself and give it a few minutes to soak in and loosen the gum.
